FASCIA

Imagine the layer between the meaty layers of an onion... That thin but tough sheet is just like fascia.

Fascia communicates nerves, blood vessels, transfers force from one part to another and houses some very important nerve receptors that tell your body about position, safety and what it's going to need next.

But, it requires regular and variable movement to stimulate the viscous fluid between layers. When we don't do this, the fluid - well, doesn't flow. Instead we feel stiff, achy and the body and brain don't talk so well to each other.

So - you see why fascia is so important and why I love doing very structured and unstructured movements in lots of ways.

And of course, it's all amplified by the breath!
